The article is aimed at showing that the functioning of livestock farms is run under pressure of different threats and as a result - under risk of losses associated with their activities. The main directions of the information and telecommunication technologies development and their influence on the structure of the risks are analyzed. These threats are studied and then divided into the following groups: naturally occurring threats (with subgroups in terms of duration - “relatively long-term” and “short-term”), economic and financial threats (including those related to bank-payment managing); criminal threats; threats to the physical security of the personnel; biomedical threats (separately to persons and animals); threats of animal attacks against livestock; threats to information security (including those related to receiving timely information about possible unwanted events); threats related to energy supply of livestock activities; to providing fodder for livestocks; technical risks and threats related to the use of hardware and software computer equipment; threats resulting from technological equipment failure; related to the use of vehicles in livestock activities; related to staffing for livestock farms and to enabling the effectiveness of their activities. For each of the mentioned groups the structure and composition of certain types of threats, their sources (objective and subjective), probability of occurrence of unwanted events and typical losses due to their occurrence are analyzed in detail. Possible measures of risk-management for various threats, including the use of information and telecommunication technologies, are specified. Expediency of using these measures with regard to technical and economical effectiveness of livestock farms activity is considered.
