This paper gives an overview of the state-of-the-art literature on DSS and describes current techniques of relevant DSS applications within manufacturing environments. The architecture of DSS, which can be considered universal for all types of DSS, is presented. This work shows that the existing classification of DSS comes from its architecture and clearly correlates with its components. The features of DSS application development are described. Trends and prospects of development of DSS are considered.
