The article describes a method for collecting and analyzing data on the places of residence of users interested in the social life of the Volgograd region. The data is analyzed based on a study of open profiles of users of thematic groups of the Volgograd region in the social network В«VKontakteВ». The data obtained allows you to conduct research on the collected statistics, as well as display it on the map, in other words, to build a map of the cities where users of the region's theme groups live. As a result of the study, a detailed geographical picture of the residence of users who are members of the Volgograd communities of the social network В«VKontakteВ» was obtained. For research, a program was developed in Python using the libraries vk_api, requests, folium, plotly, time, sqlite3 database for backup data storage. A graphical representation of the research results is made in the form of a pie chart and on an OpenStreetMap.
