The paper describes book fund acquisition system based on expert appraisal using the mechanisms of automatic determination of expert competence degree. The new approaches to traditional problems in the sphere of management of formation and use of library funds are required to form the library fund. Quick change of priorities in the information needs of scientists and engineers requires to change quickly the thematic plan of library acquisition. The approaches based on the involvement of users in the evaluation process of publications offered by the book market and accounting for these assessments when deciding whether to order and purchase specific publications for the library are described. Reasonability of the adapted mechanisms of expert appraisal method for ranking book collection in the framework of disciplines is shown. This problem may be solved by using the method of direct estimation or by expert appraisal processing. The paper describes the main functions of automated system of book fund acquisition and the categories of application users.
