The goal of the research is the development of an approach to the development of geoinformation systems as a tool to support the decision-making process using infographic analysis of residents’ grouped social preferences identified in the analysis of social networks data. There are many different data sources for decision-making support in the regional development management: citizens' complaints, media publications, monitoring and statistics of urban migration, surveys of the population through various polls and interviews. The knowledge extracted from social networks users’ data (such as behavioral characteristics and user preferences) should be taken into account when making decisions aimed at ensuring sustainable development of the region. The developed approach was used to create a decision-making support system for regional development management based on infographic analysis. A mechanism was implemented to collect data from Vkontakte and Instagram social networks, as the most popular in the Russian Federation in general and in the Volgograd region, in particular.Decision-making support in the developed geoinformation system is the use of infographics, based on the dynamic update of data from the SN.
