The article provides an analysis for existing research on optimizing the design parameters of barrel-shaped cages and electrolysis modes to reduce the coating non-uniformity of small details. The problem of searching the current and the degree of barrel-shaped cage loading to minimize the non-uniformity of the plating coating is formulated on the analysis basis. A mathematical model that considers the current penetration depth into the load and metal losses due to abrasion is proposed to solve the problem. The analysis to the optimization problem solution is carried out by decomposition into two subproblems, which are solved by the golden section and shooting methods. Demonstration of the optimization problem solution is given for nickel plating of the locating cylindrical pin M 5x36.
