In article is shown the urgency of management problems for scientific image (SI) of regional universities (RU) in competitive conditions of its activity; it is proved, that usage of Internet technologies is the major control facility for SI RU; the list of objects, which in this article are ascribed to Internet technologies sphere, is adduced. Authors note the leading part of RU sites in placement and advancement of the information, connected with their SI support. The typical hardware and software decisions, used fort creation of scientific pages (SP) at sites, their operation support, content management, ensuring information security are considered in short. In article vindicate, that existing standard means of statistical information gathering about RU Internet sites, do not provide necessary possibilities for analysis of SP efficiency. For RU sites it is investigated: structure of the information, placed on their SP, which is significant for SI estimation; the basic characteristics of resources demanding on SP. For estimation of these characteristics in article is offered calculation formulas. Authors analyze in detail possible approaches to automation of data gathering for executing calculations with these formulas. In article is shown the role of personal sites and Internet pages of employees in formation of RU SI. It is noticed, that such pages can be allocated out of RU sites. In work are presented results of the experiment, allowed to compare search efficiency in Runet by authors surname for various search systems of Internet and on site www.elibrary.ru. The conclusion made, that both approaches have essential lacks, though various. Authors also consider Internet technologies possibilities for ensuring of remote participation in scientific actions, information dispatch by e-mail; maintenance of interactive communications between scientists and so forth.
