Astrakhan region is the basic site of the Russian corridor "North-South" due to its geographical position and it has a strategic position on the shortest, cost-effective Euro-Asian transport routes. For this reason, interest to study new scientific and practical direction – logistics is growing. The aim of logistics is a delivery of goods "just in time" at minimum costs of labor and material resources. Although the logistics studies the problem of management of economic activities as a unit because of different physical nature of the controlled material and immaterial flows, one can distinguish the different interrelated areas of logistics management, for their description we use the various mathematical apparatus. It doesn’t allow to automate the decision of difficult logistical problems in their interconnection. The authors classified the mathematics and information models, methods and algorithms which are applied in logistic research. The made analysis showed that in the absence of a unified mathematical approach to the description of various inter-related elements of logistical problems cannot automate the process of planning storage and transportation of their interconnection. The urgency of creating of a universal mathematical model of the logistics and warehousing advance based on a common mathematical apparatus and the development on the basis of its decision support systems for logistics.
