The article considers the role of technical means in sustaining Russian medical institutions (MI) at present and over the long term. It gives a detailed analysis of the structure of medical equipment (ME) in use and its features for different types of Russian MI. From the viewpoint of MI operational and long-term interests, the nomenclature of main characteristics of ME separate units and ME stock (MES), used in MI in general, were studied. Much attention is given to consideration of MES management goals in MI, types of MES management, constraints that have to be taken into account in management process; list of persons participating in decision-making process that is connected with MES management in MI and the implementation of this process. The paper discusses in detail the structure of factors (information types) taken into account in the decision-making process and its implementation, connected with MES management in MI. The authors propose an original classification scheme of these factors, including several hierarchical levels and specify main aspects of the proposed classification usage in developing decision support systems for MES management in MI.
